Meet Sarah Jarzembowski
Seeking More
When Sarah Jarzembowski decided to earn her master’s degree in pastoral studies, she wanted a program that challenged her to grow both academically and spiritually. But most of all, she wanted to accomplish her goals on her own terms. Sarah found her calling at Loyola University New Orleans.
“The Ignatian Spirituality that is just infused in absolutely everything that we do throughout our coursework in Loyola Institute for Ministry was just, I thought, a real phenomenal opportunity for me to be able to then take that also into the world where I was present at that time,” Sarah explained.
Flexible Programs Built for Working Professionals
Working as the director of evangelization in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sarah puts her degree into practice every day in her community.
“I work all the way from our littlest kiddos at the church and baptisms and parents and weddings and all sorts of sacraments, all the way up through adult spiritual enrichment,” Sarah said. “I really just help with the pastoral needs of the entire parish.”
As a working professional, Loyola’s online program provided Sarah with greater flexibility to balance her coursework with her career. But even from a distance, Sarah felt connected to the campus community.
“The faculty and the staff were there at every turn, through email, through phone calls, and all sorts of Zoom and FaceTime. Any time I needed help, all I needed to do was reach out,” she said.
In the online classroom, Sarah also had the opportunity to meet other students from around the world, from different backgrounds and cultural experiences.
Brought Together by Shared Values
“It has really reminded me that there are so many different ways to see the world,” Sarah explained. “To see how the world works, and to really think about, you know, ‘Is my way, the only way?’ And if it’s not, then how does that impact how I move forward? How does that impact my next steps? And Loyola has taught me that.”
